Study Programs

Take your practice deeper

Deepen your understanding and experience of meditation and Buddhism. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, has designed three study programs that form the core of Kadampa Buddhism, being the General Program, Foundation Program and Teacher Training Program. This contemporary approach to the study and practice of Buddhist meditation and insight into how to solve our problems, reach our full potential, and find real peace and happiness, is taught in a way that is relevant for all.

“By relying on the Three Study Programmes we can gradually increase our wisdom until it is completely mature, like a full moon.”
— Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Foundation Program

If you have been attending and enjoying our weekday drop-in classes or weekend courses and retreats for a while, our Foundation Program at Tara KMC could be a natural next step for you.

Open to everyone, join any time, one class per week. The program is taught by our principal teacher, Kadam Adam and is suitable for anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding and experience of Buddha’s teachings and extensive lineage of meditation practises on how to live with greater wisdom and compassion in everyday life and find deep inner peace and happiness over time.

It is based on a time honoured lineage of training in meditation and Buddha’s timeless advice for life, presented in a way that’s easy to understand and apply to everyday life. Classes are based on the study of a particular book with talks, guided meditations and discussions, to help students deepen their understanding and experience. For those outside Dublin, you can participate on this program via livestream or correspondence.

Foundation Program FAQs

The Foundation program is focused on the study of the book entitled ‘The new heart of wisdom’. This book offers a road map to realising the profound inner peace and happiness that comes from exploring the true nature of things, which Buddha described as a state of limitless possibility, known as emptiness. To see if the foundation program suits your needs, we are offering a free 3-week trial for those who may be interested. If you are interested, just drop us a line at taracentreepc@gmail.com.

This text reveals the profound meaning of the very heart of Buddha’s teachings – the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras. The author shows how all of our problems and suffering come from our ignorance of the ultimate nature of things, and how we can abandon this ignorance and come to enjoy pure, lasting happiness through a special wisdom associated with compassion for all living beings.

The Foundation Program fee is €45 per month. By joining the Foundation Program, you will enjoy the benefits of Centre membership. This entitles you to free access to all classes, retreats and half-day courses at the Centre and 50% discount on special events.

Teacher Training FAQs

The TTP is currently focused on the study of the text  ‘Meaningful to Behold’ by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

A Bodhisattva is someone who has resolved to liberate all living beings from suffering by fulfilling his or her full spiritual potential. Many people have the compassionate wish to benefit others, but few understand how to make this wish effective in their daily life. In this inspiring text, Geshe Kelsang shows how we can develop and maintain the supremely compassionate motivation of a Bodhisattva – a friend of the word – and how we can then engage in the actual practices that provide the greatest benefit to others and lead to the attainment of full enlightenment.
